> **Note: PHP requirement**
>
> The PayLater plugin needs **PHP 8.2 or newer**. Keep PHP up to date with the latest security release for your version.

## Installation

Paylater empowers merchants to offer the popular Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) payment option to their customers on their WooCommerce websites. This document guides you through the installation and setup process of the PayLater plugin.

### Before you begin

Ensure you have a WordPress website with the WooCommerce plugin installed and activated.

## Method 1: Automatic Installation

Automatic installation is the easiest option as WordPress handles the file transfers itself and you don’t need to leave your web browser

- Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard
- Navigate to **Plugins -> Add New Plugin**
- Click on Upload Plugin
- Select the downloaded PayLater plugin zip file.
- Click Install Now and then Activate

**Upgrading:** upload the new zip the same way. When WordPress says the plugin is already installed, click **Replace current with uploaded**. Your settings are kept.

## Method 2: Manual Installation

The manual installation method involves downloading our plugin and uploading it to your web server via your favourite FTP application. Extract the zip and upload the `paylater` folder to `wp-content/plugins/`. ## Configurations

- Once activated, navigate to **WooCommerce -> Settings -> Payments**
- Locate PayLater in the list of available payment gateways and click on the Manage button.

- The PayLater settings are split across three tabs at the top of the page: **General**, **API Configuration** and **Widget Settings**. WooCommerce keeps separate credentials for testing and production, and **Test Mode** decides which set is used.

| Tab | Setting | What to enter |
| --- | --- | --- |
| General | Enable PayLater, Title, Description | Turn the payment method on and set the name and description shown at checkout. |
| General | Order Minimum | Smallest cart total that shows PayLater. Cannot be lower than 300 QAR. |
| API Configuration | Test Mode | On (default): uses the Test credentials against UAT. Off: uses the Live credentials against production. |
| API Configuration | Test Client ID / Test Client Secret | The UAT credentials, for example the ones on the [Test environment](https://docs.paylaterapp.com/test-environment.html) page. |
| API Configuration | Live Client ID / Live Client Secret | Your production credentials from PayLater. |
| API Configuration | Outlet ID | Your outlet ID from PayLater. |
| API Configuration | Payment Link Expiry (minutes) | How long the shopper has to finish paying before the link expires. Default 10. |
| API Configuration | Test Webhook Secret / Live Webhook Secret | Provided by PayLater for each environment after they register your webhook URL. The URL is shown in the **Webhook** section of this tab. |
| Widget Settings | Enable PDP Widget, Enable PLP Widget and their messages | Turn the product detail (PDP) and product list (PLP) widgets on or off and set their main and sub messages. |

- Click Save Changes to complete the configuration

## Testing

To ensure smooth functionality, it's recommended to test the PayLater payment option:

- Add a product to your cart and proceed to checkout
- During checkout, select PayLater as the payment method.
- You will be redirected to the secure PayLater platform to complete the BNPL payment process.
- Use test shopper account provided in the [Test environment](https://docs.paylaterapp.com/test-environment.html)
- Please use 300 QAR as the amount to test

> Get your `Client ID`, `Client Secret`, and `Outlet ID` from your PayLater account dashboard. For your `Webhook Secret`, share your webhook endpoint with the PayLater team. For sandbox values and test shoppers, see the [Test environment](https://docs.paylaterapp.com/test-environment.html).
