# Odoo

## Installation

Paylater empowers merchants to offer the popular Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) payment option to their customers on their Odoo websites. This document guides you through the installation and setup process of the PayLater plugin.

### Before you begin

Ensure you have an Odoo website up and running, with the **eCommerce** app installed.

### Compatibility

| Component | Supported |
| --- | --- |
| Odoo | **Odoo 18 only**. The module does not install on Odoo 17, and Odoo 19 is not supported yet. |
| Required modules | `payment` and `website_sale` |
| Store currency | QAR. Orders in any other currency are refused at checkout with "PayLater only accepts payments in QAR". |
| Install method | Copy into an addons path on self-hosted Odoo or Odoo.sh. Odoo Online (SaaS) cannot install custom modules. |

## Install the module

- Extract the zip. Inside it you will find a `payment_paylater` folder.
- Copy the `payment_paylater` folder (not the outer folder from the zip) into one of your Odoo addons paths, for example `/mnt/extra-addons/payment_paylater`. On Odoo.sh, commit it to your project repository instead.
- Restart the Odoo service.
- Turn on **developer mode** (**Settings → Developer Tools → Activate the developer mode**).
- Go to **Apps**, click **Update Apps List**, then remove the "Apps" filter and search for `paylater`.

- Click **Activate** (or **Install**) on **Payment Provider: PayLater**.

### Upgrading

Replace the `payment_paylater` folder in your addons path with the one from the new zip and restart Odoo. Then go to **Apps**, remove the "Apps" filter, search for `paylater`, open the **⋮** menu on the PayLater card and click **Upgrade**. Your settings are kept.

## Configurations

- Navigate to **Website → Configuration → Payment Providers** (under **eCommerce**) and open **PayLater**.

- Fill in the PayLater fields on the **Credentials** tab:

| Field | What to enter |
| --- | --- |
| Environment | **UAT (Testing)** with the [test credentials](https://docs.paylaterapp.com/test-environment.html), or **Live (Production)** with your live credentials. |
| Client ID | Your OAuth client ID from PayLater. |
| Client Secret | Your OAuth client secret from PayLater. |
| Outlet ID | Your outlet ID from PayLater. |
| Webhook Secret | Provided by PayLater after they register your webhook URL (see below). |
| Minimum Order Amount | Orders below this amount do not see PayLater at checkout. Default 300. |

- Set the provider **State** to **Enabled** (or **Test Mode**) and publish it.
- Your webhook URL is `https://<your-store>/payment/paylater/callback`. Send it to the PayLater team; they register it and give you the Webhook Secret.

- For widget settings, navigate to **Settings → PayLater**. The widgets are **off by default**: tick **Product List Page (Shop)** and **Product Detail Page** to show them, and set the minimum price, heading, sub heading and terms text.

- Click Save Changes to complete the configuration

## Testing

To ensure smooth functionality, it's recommended to test the PayLater payment option:

- Add a product to your cart and proceed to checkout
- During checkout, select PayLater as the payment method.
- You will be redirected to the secure PayLater platform to complete the BNPL payment process.
- Use test shopper account provided in the [Test environment](https://docs.paylaterapp.com/test-environment.html).
- Please use 300 QAR as the amount to test
